Abasin with Kelly - May 14

Skipped work to ski with Kelly. Montazuma Bowl for the first time. Kelly just returned from 2 months in Bahia Kino, Mex so quite the shocker to be at 12,000ft in full on winter conditions!

Awesome snow! 6" to start and 3 or 4 more as the day went on. Hit all the good terrain including a hike back into Vasques.

Winterpark Downhilling

Super Bowl Sunday crowd free day. With a quick jaunt up the slopes on the east side of Berthod Pass on the way out. The new set up, K2 Kung Fujas with Marher Tour 12s is awesome! Great on the bumps, controlled on the blues, climb just fine.

Eiseman Hut Bday ski

Perfect weather for the ski in, 20" of fresh pow the next morning. Heavenly!

Loveland tele/alpine mix

A half day on the divide. Sunny, warm, seriously wind blown snow. A good MLK morning.

East Portal to Heart Lake ski

Saturday tromp with Rach up into the bowls above Hear Lake. Skirted the slopes of Haystack on the north side. Looked a bit too dicey to do the loop up the steep, winds slab filled slopes.

Winter Park downhill skiing

First jaunt on the K2 Kung Fujas. Nice.

Jenny Creek to Yankee Doodle Lake ski

Frigid with whiteouts at treeline. But nice woodland and fine snow.

East Portal backcountry ski: New Years Day special

Image
It was cold up below Haystack Peak. And windy. 30 mph with 10F means windchill. But 8" of fresh above 10,000' so well worth while!

Tele skiing at Loveland

Image
An awesome late April day at Loveland! 9" of fresh and spent most of the time up on the Ridge. Hiked out to Gate 3 and 4 for the first time. Many drops into Gates 1 and 2. So much fun to feel confident to tele off the cornices and down the steeps, in the deep.

Winter Park spring skiing

Skipped work with Dan and hit Panorama and Eaglewind with almost a foot of fresh in the trees. Driving was full on winter ice on Berthoud, skied in blustery fog and snow in the morning then had spring mashed potato snow near the base in the afternoon. April in Colorado: all four seasons in a day! Great lunch of steamed mussels and Belgian beer at Cheeky Monks at WP base.

Niwot Ridge ski

A late start at noon with a bit of walking up the road before getting to the snow.

Loveland teleskiing

First day at Loveland for the season. 6 inches or so of semi fresh from Saturday's storm. But the wind got to it overnight. Still found pockets of fluff in places like the South and North Chutes and over on Chair 8. Spent a number of runs on Over the Rainbow and Avalanche Bowl which are always a challenge on tele gear.
