Isabel/Baseline Loop - 1hr20min, 26miles

A fast and furious NCAR ride with the big boys setting a gruelling pace. Eventually split off and a third of us took the last few miles at a more sane pace.

10th Mountain Hut Ski

Image
Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 16-18 2006 3 days and 2 nights at 11,400ft with the divide right above the hut and safe skiable terrain all around. Fresh snow on top of it all. Mix in the Blum's andmake it one of the best hut trips yet. Left Boulder at 6:30 with snowy roads all the way. Slow going but we were able to start skiing by 10:30. Easy ski in but wicked cold temps in the single digits. The kiddos were, as usual, great troopers. We got to the hut by 2:30, in plenty of time for Rachel and I to go explore up above Slide Lake and cut some nice turns in 5 inches of fresh, blown in snow with mostly blue skies. Friday we skied with Alex up to Homestake ridge. Alex, running a bit of bad cold and flue, turned back and we went up to around 12,400 ft in pretty blustery conditions. Turned around to skitter on down to treeline and some fine snow and turns al the way back to the hut. Spotted Varda on some kid time but still had time to explore some really good glades east of the hut before dar...

Nelson loop clockwise - 1hr10min, 22miles

Mellow ride with Kay and Heidi. Amazing that we've been able to ride all winter long. Just amazing. Almost 50 again today.

Niwot Ridge gear check with the girls

Testing the sled and the girls' boots and skis on the tracked research road. Short but fun return down the road and through the trees.

Lightly run: Big Blue Stem Loop - 5.5 miles

A mellow Saturday AM jog with Rach.

Lookout Loop clockwise - 1hr, 19miles

A solo lunch ride with 50F.

Eldora Tele-ing

Braved the warm Chinook with the girls to ski some in some of the softer Eldora conditions. The girls had FUN on Corona!

Copper Snowboarding

5.5 hours in traffic, 5 hours boarding with Dan. Go figure. But the snow was great and Resolution Bowl was the place to be with 18-20 inches of powder!

Olde Stage counterclockwise - 1hr05min, 19miles

A shortened Frosty Ride. Was going to do Lee Hill with the group but Heidi's sore throat called for a left turn on Olde Stage. The pace for the first 8 miles was quick. Had to force myself into a rhythm before getting a good groove going. Was feeling gooooood on Lefthand; I'm sure I could've kept up the pace till the climb. Bummer about cutting left but would've felt guilty leaving Kay and Heidi after Kay's comments on Monday about good etiquette and pulling for each other.
