Niwot Sled Trail Teleski with Rachel

A half-day ski up the sled trail to the Niwot Ridge tele zone. Light snow the whole time. Just incredibly poor snow both in the woods and up at treeline. The woods were thin down low and absolutely unconsolidated where it was deep higher up. The open areas at treeline were crusty and thin. Strange season for snowpack. View Niwot in a larger map

Olde Stage on Old Trek counterclockwise

Cool temps in the upper 30's but I'm getting used to that at this point in this endless gray and cool winter. The Trek is just perfect for these days with sandy, gravelly shoulders.

Eldora

Tried the alpine gear but reverted to tele. Much more fun! 6 or 7" of fresh made for lots of good runs over on West Ridge, Salto and Bryan's Glades.

Loveland tele with the girls

Skied out of Francie's in all of 20 minutes and headed over to Loveland on the way home. Finally had good coverage and we hit lots of steeps off the Ridge. The girls are making awesome progress on their steep and deep skills.

Francis Hut Trip

Image
From 2010 February Francie's Hut Trip 3-day ski into the easy-access Francie's Hut near Breckenridge. The BLum's pulled to permit last spring for this one. Alex' brother and wife, Joel and Cindy, came along. Lots of fresh snow and deep, hoar-frosted base made for tough trail breaking.

Jasper Lake backcountry ski

Another failed attempt to get past Jasper Lake to Devil Thumbs Lake. Darn. Happens every time (except once) that we caught too low in the thick woods below Jasper. How ironic: I had just been giving Rach a hard time over her want of a GPS when we realized that we were probably too far down in the woods and out of time to get up the valley. But the phone GPS gave us a good read post-ski to see our return trip. View jasper Lake in a larger map

Cross ride - Neva/55th/Northside of Res

A lunch ride with the old Trek again. Very nice.
