Image
From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids Loop around Lumpy Ridge, early Sat. morning. So cool to see the climbing up here again. It's been many years! Such cool rock and awesome views. We did a fast 4-hour loop around the ridge. From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids

Friday #6 of .9 FTE: Centennial Cone Loop Mnt Bike - 12 miles

Image
From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids Took Rach for that most awesome of Front Range loops. What a great mix of terrain, views, and climbs. One of the best!

Boreas Pass Rd and Bakers Tank trail, Breckenridge, CO - 18 miles

Image
From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids Sunday morning ride from Bob and Jodi Showman's place in Breck. June 19 and the road is still gated closed at the 3 mile point. All the snow is off the road bed but the hills are still blanketed. Great ride! Mellow climb for 9 miles or so up the old railroad bed to the pass where there are old cabins and historical markers. Then back dpwn the road to the Bakers Tank cut off and some sweet single track to the valley. Many a pile of snow still in the woods though, and many carry through the deep in porous shoes. Well worth it though! From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids

5th Friday at .9: Epic road ride over Loveland Pass - 93 miles

So we get invited up to stay with the Showman's in Breck. Strikes me as a great opportunity to ride up there Friday and meet the girls inn the evening. How often do I get the chance to do that? I was figuring on around 112miles or so, Boulder, Coal Creek, Central City, Idahoe Springs, Loveland Pass, Keystone, Breck. Most of that worked out just fine. Left home around 7 am and beat most of the traffic up 93 and Coal Creek. Though neither of those are all that welcoming to riders. Had a motorcyclist going down the canyon yell at me "watch out for the boulder!" I thought that was kind of nice but then never came across a boulder. What he must have said was "Go back to Boulder!" 20 miles to get to the top of Wundervue with lots of gradual climbing. Then a schuss down to Pinecliff before more gradual climbing to the Peak to Peak. Heading south is nice with wide shoulders and mellow climbs with great viewws for 10 miles or so. Then a 6 mile barrel down to Blackhawk,...

Eldo loops and Marshall Mesa - 26 miles

Early am local ride. Always awesome to do this one on a Sunday and hardly see any people.

4th Friday of .9 FTE: Hall and Rabbit Mnt with Rachel

Image
From 2011 Droid Pics and Vids 4th Friday with great weather and time to go ride. Keeping the streak of new terrain alive, we rode up the Antelope Trail from Apple Valley then did the usual Nelson Loop up on the ranch land. Rachel wanted to test her skill so we dropped  down the front side and rode the road back around to the car. That's a cool loop. I would go the opposite way next time in order to work the technical climb. After lunching in the parking lot, drove over to Rabbit Mnt and tried out the 4 mile Eagle Wind Loop and then the Indian Mesa out and back. Meh. The loop had killer views of Meeker, Longs, the whole Front Range and the plains. But pretty rocky ala Heil in spots. Rachel took a couple of good biffs - but kept on going. Indian Mesa is a dirt road that's part of the ditch system up there.

Coal Creek, Peak to Peak, Lyons, 75th, 63rd, bike paths - 92 miles

Sunday morning ride: prairies to peaks to canyons to farmland. What a diverse route! Thought I would squeak a 100 out of the day but it would have been contrived to zig zag out east to get it done. The hills are green, the creeks are flowing, the sky is blue. All in all a great outing.

Salina to Sunset and Switzerland Trail Loop - 32 miles

Friday #3 at .9 FTE. Rach and I rode from Salina up to Sunset, then the Switzerland Trail to the Peak to Peak and back again via Sugarloaf/Switzerland Trail.

Yet again on this one. A 6AM departure to get some motion in before an all-day manager's meeting hosted at my house.
