'New' downhill boards

Picked up a pair of Salomon Scream Hot 10's at PlayItAgain for $125. Nice! Mogul machines: 110 - 75 - 100. Nice a skinny for quick turns and the right amount of soft in the right places to keep me happy. From 2012 Mobile Pics and vids

Froehlicher Hut Trip

Presidents Day Weekend in the mountains! Nice weather on Saturday for the ski in an for some touring. OK again on Sunday until the afternoon when cold and snow blew in. Not before we got to do some nice skiing in the slope to the north of the hut.

Winterpark teleing with Kelly

Finally!! A day of skiing at a resort! With warm temps, partly blue skies, and pretty god coverage. Burning thighs with teleing! Need to start thinking about the conversion to AT gear... Kelly hooked up with Ian from New Vista and his parents, John and Jill. Turns out that Jill grew up in the Rosyln Country Club neighborhood, same as Rachel, went to the same schools and alternative high school, one year ahead of her.

Niwot Ridge - again!

This time with Rachel. Clearing skies, not a breath of wind, a few inches of new fluff. Another nice day skiing up the road to the research area on the ridge. Hung out in one of the old MASH trailers up there to eat lunch. Fun! From 2012_02 Niwot Ridge Ski Looks like there is a cut off at the 10,800ft mark along the road, just before before the gate, to cut north and east over to the bowl above Peace bridge. Could make for a nice loop cutting back on the Sourdough trail. From 2012_02 Niwot Ridge Ski

Almost wasted my Sunday moping about the house. At 10:30 I finally had enough of that and threw my gear in the Subaru and headed up to the Peak to Peak. Blue skies to being the climb but snow squalls moving in from the southwest. Not fast enough to keep me from getting up to the first facility above treeline though! Excellent fresh snow on a cat tracked road up the last mile of the climb. Wax until that final push above the trees then skins for a short 20 minutes. I've been up there when the decent was treacherous due to wind slabs and ice sheets. Today, the powder was so deep I could hardly move downhill! The road was fast though and perfect for lots and lots of turns for the 3 mile descent.

Mesa Trail skiing!

Old Stage counter clockwise

A lunch ride! 48F with a cool northerly flow but sunny and the roads were all freshly swept :-)
