Tour de Boulder with Lightly (again!)

Another round around Boulder, this time clockwise, which I think I like better.

Nederland to Boulder via Magnolia and Flagstaff

After 3 days of managers retreat time, a ride in the flurries on some remote and lonely single track was the ticket.

Marshall Mesa counterclockwise mnt bike

After work, evening ride on a mild, 70+F, spring day. Cruise it! So fun in that direction: fast, swoops, nicer climbing.

Lilly Lake and Taylor Rd rambles

Tooka drive up to Estes to check out a Jeep Liberty. Strolled up and around Lilly Lake on the way home. Took a longer stroll in to an overlook of the St Vrain canyon on Taylor Rd outside of Allenspark too. Cool spot! Worth going back to with bikes and a map to check out the Bright Trail.

From 2012 Mobile Pics and vids Kelly and Rach are in Moab, Leah is out with friends. Early morning existentialism waned as I got motivated to drive up Coal Creek Canyon to Gap Rd and Ryan Group Campground. Dropped down the Buffalo Trail for a mile or so to Hidden Valley, picked up the Mountain Lion trail heading up to Windy Peak. A tight, technical descent for 3 or 4 miles from there, criss crossing Deer Creek. Then rambling road and single track traversing though meadows with nice foothill views down to a parking area. Then the big climb back up to Hidden Valley mostly on nice single track, but steep in places. Cool pond and old ranch house at Hidden Valley. Buffalo trail back up to Gap Rd. Excellent loop! A bit of hike-a-bike on the steepest parts and down some technical drops but really worth while. From 2012 Mobile Pics and vids From 2012 Mobile Pics and vids But wait!! That's too short a day! Hooked a left just before Gap Rd on Snowshoe Hare trail which winds up and aroun...

Lookout counterclockwise - 23 miles

Finally! A real lunch ride. Man, its been hard to squeeze those in this spring despite the nice weather. Low 60's, an upslope wind for the canyon (yes!), green spouting trees and bushes, a nice flow in Lefthand Creek. Beauty!!

Bear Mnt loop hike counter clockwise

Storm is a coming! But Rach and I got up and over before it hit. Views of the divide were obscured by snow-laden clouds. And there was a chilly nip in the wind. The summit was crowded!! Hooked up with a young Swiss couple up there and hiked down Fern with them. They both work at NIST researching lasers. Boy are they in love with Boulder! Fun to hear their perspective on things.

Sunshine, Switzerland Trail, Fourmile loop with Rach

Not the longest ride in the world but a killer climb and pretty loop for sure. 3000+ft of up. On a mnt bike, that's some work. Great views in this direction! A favorite ride.

75th, Nimbus, Oxford, 47th, 55th ramble - 18miles

A warm sunny day to explore some dirt roads over lunch. Trees are in full bloom, cows are in full grass munch mode.

Lunch ride: Lookout/Isabelle Loop - 18 miles

The chill from yesterday's snow is vaporizing with the blue skies and sun.
