Sunshine to Peak to Peak to Sugarloaf

Image
40 odd miles and 5400ft of gain on wet and at times snowy paved and dirt roads and trails. Love the Vaja! A beast that goes anywhere but still climbs really well. Definitely a great bike for this type of ride. The temps dropped the whole way up with snow flurries just above on Niwot Ridge. Switzerland Trail heading east to Sugarloaf was a. bear with all the snow and ice. Had to be very careful. No speed records on that leg.

Green Mnt loop counter clockwise with Rach

From 2012_10 Misc This is the way to go! Why do we always go the other direction? Get the real business end of it done first. Snow on the ground for most of it but not enough ice to warrant yak tracks. From 2012_10 Misc From 2012_10 Misc

Old Stage Counter clockwise

A fast lunch ride on the Giant after weeks on the Salsa. 19mph with the climb. I'm happy.

Coulson Gulch/North Sheep Mnt Hike

Image
From 2012_10 Misc Looking south from Coulson Gulch with Higgins Park below the lengthy ridge of Sheep Mnt. A fine fall day on seldom visited trails. 8 mile loop dropping down to North St Vrain Creek from Big Elk Meadows Rd. Unreal how this area is so much like nearby RMNPark - but no people. Well, other than the 4x4 yahoos and their guns. But they don't bother you when you're down off the beaten track of the Forest Service roads. This is a killer loop during the cooler seasons and one we can't forget to revisit with bikes. The whole loop is very doable other than a bit of hike-a-bike along the creek and 15 minute push up part of North Sheep Mnt trail. The cutoff back to to the car from the cabin up North Sheep is awesome and should be really fine on 2 wheels. From 2012_10 Misc Rachel down in North St Vrain canyon. Buffalo Creek Mnt Biking with Rach

The girls being on NYC for the weekend, we were free to play guilt free. An overcast and cool day in the 40's but the smooth single track of Buffalo Creek was calling. Started riding out of Pine Valley by 10: Up Buck Gulch Skipper Trail Homestead Trail Sand Wash Buffalo Creek Rd all the way up to Buffalo Creek Campground for lunch back down the rd to Baldy Trail Down towards Strawberry but took Charlie's Cut back over to Homestead and then down Strawberry Jack then tooled around Narrow Gauge to its end ~28 miles or so. A fine dinner at Ali Babbas in Golden to cap off the day. Very nice! From 2012_10 Misc From 2012_10 Misc From 2012_10 Misc
