Feb 16-18 with Alex, Varda, Gordon MacLean First hut trip without any kids since I went to to Shrine Mnt 14 years ago with Bill Anders. Snow is thin down low but pretty deep and nice up above 10,000ft.
Another spur of the moment, 40 minute drive up to the slopes. The forecast called for cold temps and wind but the obs were showing 20's and calm. Decided to take advantage and burn another hit on the 4-pack for a half day of tele burning. Worth while, too. The whopping 2' of fresh was OK if you avoided the icy stretches of the groomers and the rocks along the bottom half of Salto Glades and West Ridge.
A Saturday stroll with Lightly. Chilly weather with a storm looming. The storm caught up with us as we got the reservoir. Before that, blue skies but chilly temps. Hiked up Sleepy Lion trail but took the connector into Hall Ranch and hiked it over to the Nelson Loop (bike loop) and then back again. On the return, stuck to the dirt road which eventually reconnects with Sleepy Lion and drops down to the reservoir. Ate lunch to the sound of cracking ice while watching the snow squalls drift by.
Another Sunday with Leah at the Park. And she even drove both ways! Best coverage yet this year. Blue skies and warm with no wind. Way good! And Leah is doing a grand job getting her mogul technique going.
Tue/Thu at 6:15. Metabolic Resistance Training is what they call it. Good stuff. Hits the core and the intervals get the hert and fast twitch muscles going.
A spur of the moment drive up to Eldora. Rach returned from her hut trip and wanted to swim. 4 inches or so of fresh, blue skies, mostly good snow. West glades were even open!
