First time on the water this year! Latest date since moving here 23 years ago :-( As always, it's an awesome paddle with unreal views. And as a bonus today, there wasn't a single motorboat on the totally glassy surface. Unreal.
It's been a long while since riding the Giant OCR. I was happy to see that I've kept in shape for road riding despite the lack of long rides these days.
This time we looped it counter clockwise which is the way to go if you're going to ride it. S nice! We counted over 34 wild flowers in bloom. And hardly anyone on the trails. Perfect. We explored the old road that traverses west at the bottom of 'Columbine' Gulch above the raging St Vrain. We didn't quite make it to where a trail comes down to cross the river. Maybe next time.
A Saturday ride with Rach. Parked at the Fall River visitor center. Up up up. 3800 ft. of gain over 12 miles or so. Snow walls along the last quarter mile to to Trail Ridge Rd. swooping downhill back the same way.
